Graduate Student Luisa Rangel presents at Kentucky Foreign Language Conference 2026

 Luisa writes:
"I participated in a professional academic conference held at the University of Kentucky, where I
presented my paper titled “Migración Forzada de Mujeres Zapotecas en el Istmo de
Tehuantepec: Extractivismo, Capital Emocional y Resistencia Decolonial.” My presentation
examined the impact of extractivist projects in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and their role in
shaping forced migration, with particular attention to Indigenous women’s experiences and
decolonial forms of resistance.

Phd Candidate Andrea Hernandez presents at the AAAL conference March 2026

Andrea presented Lexical complexity, fluency, and tense in oral narrations: comparing the effect of valence across prompts’: Andrea co-presented with Sophia Minillo, and non-presenters were Paloma Fernandez-Mira and Dr. Sanchez-Gutierrez. This presentation took place at the American Association of Applied Linguistics (AAAL) 2026 Conferece (Chicago, March 2026). The presentation was about prompt valence
